Summary
This study looks at whether certain common medications, known to affect the heart's electrical activity (QT prolongation), actually cause serious heart problems like dangerous rhythms or fainting in hospitalized adults. Researchers will analyze health records from over 990,000 patients across Ontario to compare those who had heart events with those who did not. The goal is to find out which patients are truly at risk and improve medication safety alerts, which currently cause frequent disruptions in hospitals.
