Scientists map muscle changes in kids with rare muscle disease

NCT ID NCT07437378

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the structure of calf muscles relates to walking ability in children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Researchers examined 26 boys aged 6-12 who could still walk, using ultrasound to measure their calf muscles and testing their walking speed and movement. The goal was to gather knowledge about how muscle changes affect function in DMD, not to test any treatment.
