New PET scan targets hidden lung cancer cells

NCT ID NCT07677787

First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new type of PET/CT scan that looks for a protein called DLL3 on small cell lung cancer cells. The goal is to see if this scan can find tumors more clearly than standard imaging methods like CT or regular PET scans. About 20 adults with suspected or confirmed small cell lung cancer will receive the special tracer and undergo imaging, with results compared to conventional scans.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
DLL3-targeted PET tracer
What this could lead to
If successful, this imaging method could help doctors detect small cell lung cancer more accurately and guide treatment decisions.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The tracer's safety and effectiveness are still being evaluated.
