New hope for lymphoma patients too frail for standard chemo
NCT ID NCT01679119
Summary
This trial tested two different drug combinations for patients with an aggressive type of blood cancer called DLBCL, who could not receive the standard chemotherapy due to heart risks or older age. It directly compared adding a newer targeted drug (inotuzumab ozogamicin) to a standard regimen versus adding an older chemotherapy drug (gemcitabine). The goal was to find a safer, effective first treatment for this vulnerable group, measuring how long patients lived without their cancer getting worse and their quality of life.
