First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested a new deep brain stimulation (DBS) system that uses directional leads to more precisely target brain areas involved in Parkinson's disease. The goal was to see if this system could effectively improve motor symptoms while reducing side effects. Twenty-six adults with Parkinson's whose symptoms were not well controlled by medication took part. The results help show whether this advanced DBS system is a safe and effective option for managing Parkinson's.
