First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to dilute a common numbing medicine (bupivacaine) for a nerve block in the arm. One uses sugar water (5% dextrose) and the other uses salt water (normal saline). Researchers want to see which mixture works faster, lasts longer, and provides better pain relief during and after upper arm surgery. About 90 adults having elective arm surgery will take part.
