App aims to curb ER restraints for disabled patients

Summary

This study tests whether a mobile app called Always Uniquely Me (AUM) can reduce the use of physical or chemical restraints and improve the ER experience for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. About 1,500 participants who have visited a Northwell Health ER in the past year will either use the app or receive standard care. Researchers will track restraint use, ER stay length, and patient satisfaction.
