Can a phone app help ICU patients recover faster?

NCT ID NCT07489092

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a smartphone app called Tuntun Rehabilitation Assistant to help people who have been in the intensive care unit (ICU) regain strength and mobility. About 70 adults from two hospitals in South Korea will use the app for daily 30-minute rehab sessions. Researchers will measure muscle strength, walking ability, thinking skills, and quality of life to see if the app is helpful and easy to use.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Tuntun Rehabilitation Assistant (smartphone-based digital rehabilitation platform)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide a convenient, home-based way for ICU survivors to regain strength and independence.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early feasibility study with only 70 participants, so results may not apply widely. The platform requires a smartphone and ability to use it, which may limit who can benefit.
