Smartwatches for cancer survivors: a new way to track symptoms?

NCT ID NCT06669832

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether cancer survivors can use a smartwatch and a phone app to regularly report their symptoms and activity levels. Fifty adults who have finished cancer treatment and have stable disease will wear a smartwatch for about four months and fill out weekly questionnaires. The goal is to see if this approach is practical and acceptable, and to find out what might make people stop using it.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that digital tools like smartwatches and apps are a practical way to monitor cancer survivors' well-being and symptoms at home.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to all cancer survivors. Some people may find the technology hard to use or stop participating.
