First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tested a dietary supplement made from potato starch in 107 people receiving stem cell transplants. The goal was to see if it could safely reduce a serious complication called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), where donor cells attack the patient's body. Participants took the supplement daily starting just before transplant and continuing for 100 days. The researchers measured how many developed moderate to severe GVHD during that time.
