Food as medicine: new diet trial aims to halt cyst growth in kidney disease

NCT ID NCT06786260

Summary

This pilot study is testing whether a specific 12-month diet can slow the progression of kidney cysts in people with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). The diet is low in salt, caffeine, and certain nutrients, and high in potassium. Researchers will compare kidney scans and blood/urine markers in 30 participants following either the special diet or their regular diet to see if the intervention makes a difference.
