Can diet and natural supplements tame stubborn genetic cholesterol?
NCT ID NCT05695937
Summary
This pilot study tested whether a specific heart-healthy diet, with or without added supplements (phytosterols and krill oil), could help lower cholesterol in adults with a genetic form of high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolemia). All 58 participants were already on stable cholesterol medication. The main goal was to see if these dietary additions could further reduce 'bad' LDL cholesterol and another fat particle called lipoprotein(a) over 120 days.
