Scientists test if weight loss is the key benefit of official diet advice
NCT ID NCT04293224
Summary
This study aims to understand if the main health benefit of following the U.S. Dietary Guidelines comes from the specific foods recommended or from the weight loss they may cause. Researchers will provide 70 adults with overweight or obesity one of three carefully controlled diets for 8 weeks, then track their health for 28 weeks total. They will measure weight, blood markers, and even brain function to see which diet approach works best.
