Can a special diet before kidney donation protect your health?
NCT ID NCT05709600
First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at how different diets—like a fasting-mimicking diet, a ketogenic diet, or a diet low in certain amino acids—change the biology of kidney tissue in people about to donate a kidney. Researchers will take small tissue samples before and after the diet to measure proteins, fats, and other molecules. The goal is to find out if these diets can help protect the donor's remaining kidney. About 80 adult kidney donors will take part.
