First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study tested how breathing diesel exhaust affects the heart and blood vessels in healthy adults aged 50-75. Six volunteers with a specific gene type (GSTM1 null) breathed in three different levels of diesel exhaust for 2 hours each, with two weeks between sessions. Researchers used ultrasound to check blood vessel function after each exposure. The goal was to understand how air pollution might harm the heart.
