First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at how breathing in diesel exhaust affects the nose's smell system and thinking abilities. Forty healthy, non-smoking adults were exposed to both diesel exhaust and clean air in a random order. Researchers took small tissue samples from the nose and tested sense of smell and mental processing speed to see if air pollution might play a role in developing dementia.
