NCT ID NCT07151885

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study tests a new way to find high-risk varices (enlarged veins) in the stomach and esophagus of people with liver cirrhosis. Instead of using a scope, doctors will combine a special ultrasound technique, liver stiffness measurement, and a simple blood platelet count. The goal is to see if this non-invasive method can accurately identify who needs urgent treatment, potentially avoiding uncomfortable and risky endoscopies for many patients. The study will enroll 380 adults with cirrhosis.
