Scientists hunt for clues in diabetic kidneys to stop rapid failure

NCT ID NCT02986984

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people with diabetes lose kidney function very quickly while others decline more slowly. Researchers will collect kidney tissue, blood, and urine from 400 diabetic adults who are already scheduled for a medically necessary kidney biopsy. By comparing samples from 'fast' and 'slow' progressors, they hope to find biological markers and pathways that could lead to future treatments.
