Smart insulin pens and glucose monitors put to the test for newly discharged diabetes patients

NCT ID NCT07061301

First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a continuous glucose monitor and a smart insulin pen cap can help people with type 2 diabetes who just started insulin in the hospital stick to their insulin schedule and control their blood sugar after going home. About 80 adults aged 18 to 70 will be split into two groups: one that sees real-time data from the devices and one that uses standard finger-prick checks. The goal is to see if the technology reduces missed insulin doses and improves time in the healthy blood sugar range.
