Could a simple blood test predict anesthesia danger?

NCT ID NCT07375680

Summary

This study aims to understand if a person's long-term blood sugar levels (measured by HbA1c) are linked to how slowly their stomach empties before surgery. Researchers will use a bedside ultrasound scan on 134 adults having elective surgery to measure stomach contents after fasting. The goal is to see if this information can help doctors better identify patients at higher risk for breathing stomach contents into their lungs during anesthesia.
