NCT ID NCT01471808
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding oral diabetes drugs (metformin/pioglitazone or sitagliptin) to a short course of insulin can help newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients achieve long-term remission. 264 participants were followed for one year to see how many could stop medication and maintain healthy blood sugar. The goal is to find a better way to control diabetes early on and possibly reduce the need for lifelong medication.
