New study aims to catch liver damage early in diabetes patients
NCT ID NCT06567990
First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study follows 500 adults aged 40–80 with type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease to see how well simple, non-invasive tests (like blood tests and ultrasound) can predict worsening liver damage. Researchers will track participants for several years to link these test results with actual health outcomes, such as liver scarring or diabetes complications. The goal is to improve early detection and monitoring without needing a liver biopsy.
