Summary
This study looked at 605 patients who had surgery for a type of esophageal cancer. Researchers wanted to understand if having type 2 diabetes leads to worse recovery and shorter survival after this surgery. They also investigated whether taking the diabetes drug metformin or having well-controlled blood sugar improves patient outcomes.
