New diabetes pill tested for better blood sugar control

NCT ID NCT00971243

Summary

This study tested whether adding a new drug called MP-513 to the common diabetes medication metformin could help control blood sugar levels better. It involved 448 adults with type 2 diabetes who were already taking metformin. Researchers compared four different doses of MP-513 over 24 weeks, with some patients continuing for up to a year, to find the safest and most effective dose.
