Common diabetes pill may shield the brain after stroke

NCT ID NCT07241897

Summary

This study is testing whether a widely used diabetes medication (a DPP4 inhibitor) can help protect memory and thinking skills in people who have had a mild stroke and also have type 2 diabetes. Researchers will give the drug or a placebo to over 300 participants for six months to see if it improves cognitive test scores and reduces the risk of post-stroke cognitive impairment. The goal is to find a safe, existing treatment that could help manage this common and serious complication.
