Could a common pill stop painful kidney stones?

NCT ID NCT07055282

Summary

This early study is testing if a medication called empagliflozin, usually used for diabetes and heart health, can change urine chemistry to help prevent calcium-based kidney stones from forming again. Researchers will give the drug to 32 adults with a history of these stones for four weeks, measuring changes in their urine. The goal is to see if this approach is promising enough to test in larger future studies for stone prevention.
