Fish oil pills may boost attention in ADHD children, small study hints
NCT ID NCT07521449
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether phosphatidylserine supplements with or without DHA (an omega-3 fat) could improve thinking skills in children with ADHD. 45 children aged 10-14 who had never taken ADHD medication took either a placebo or one of three supplement formulas daily for 8 weeks. Researchers measured attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity using computer tests before and after the treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Phosphatidylserine and DHA (omega-3) supplements
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a natural supplement option to help children with ADHD focus better without medication.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 45 children. The results may not apply to all kids with ADHD, and supplements are not a substitute for proven treatments.
