New drug trial aims to save insulin cells in type 1 diabetes
NCT ID NCT05594563
Summary
This study is testing whether an oral drug called DFMO can help preserve the body's own insulin production in people recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. About 70 participants will take either DFMO or a placebo pill twice daily for six months to see if it reduces stress on insulin-producing cells and helps them last longer. Researchers will measure how much insulin the body still makes over a 12-month period to determine if the treatment is effective.
