NCT ID NCT07428512
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether injecting sugar water (dextrose) around a nerve in the shoulder can reduce chronic pain. 120 adults with shoulder pain lasting over 6 months received either a 5% or 10% dextrose solution under ultrasound guidance. The goal was to see if these injections improve pain, movement, and daily function.
What this could mean

Active substance
dextrose (sugar water) injection
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simple, low-cost injection option to ease chronic shoulder pain and improve mobility without surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial comparing two sugar-water solutions. The effect may be modest, and results may not apply to all shoulder pain causes.
