Brain surgery drug showdown: which keeps pressure safer?
NCT ID NCT07199595
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study compares two medications, dexmedetomidine and magnesium sulfate, to see which better controls pressure inside the skull during brain surgery. Sixty adults having elective craniotomy will receive one of the drugs, and their brain pressure will be continuously measured using a thin tube in the spine. The goal is to gather knowledge about which drug works best, not to provide a new treatment.
