Summary
This study looked at whether giving a medicine called dexmedetomidine during major abdominal surgery can lower the chance of older patients (over 65) becoming confused or delirious after the operation. Researchers tracked 268 patients for about 5 days after surgery, checking for confusion and pain levels. The goal is to find a simple way to improve recovery for elderly patients.
