Summary

This study is testing different doses of a sedative drug called dexmedetomidine to see if it can prevent or reduce confusion and memory problems in older adults after major leg surgery. Researchers will compare the drug's effects to a standard pain medication in 75 elderly patients. The goal is to find the best dose to protect thinking and awareness during recovery.
