NCT ID NCT07088900
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study looks at whether adding dexmedetomidine to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) can provide longer and better pain relief for children after open appendix surgery. About 60 children will receive a caudal block (an injection near the tailbone) with either the combo or bupivacaine alone. The goal is to see if the combo delays the need for extra pain medicine and improves recovery.
