Summary
This study tested whether the steroid dexamethasone could improve recovery in people with traumatic brain injury and brain swelling. It planned to enroll 600 adults with visible brain contusions and swelling on CT scans. Participants received a short, tapering course of dexamethasone or a placebo. The trial was terminated early, and the main goal was to measure functional recovery using the Glasgow Outcome Scale at one and six months.
