Steroid shot before back surgery may cut pain and drug use

Summary

This study tests whether giving a steroid called dexamethasone before minimally invasive spine fusion surgery can reduce back pain after the operation. Researchers will compare pain scores and morphine use in 60 adults aged 50-80 who are having surgery for spinal stenosis or disc problems. The goal is to improve recovery with fewer side effects.
