Common drug could offer new path to ease pain after C-Sections

NCT ID NCT07257406

Summary

This study tested whether giving the steroid dexamethasone by IV during a cesarean delivery could help reduce pain and the need for strong opioid painkillers afterward. Researchers compared the steroid against a placebo in 87 women to see if it improved pain scores and recovery quality in the first 24 hours after surgery. The goal was to find a safer, multi-method approach to pain control with fewer side effects than relying heavily on opioids.
