Smart pacifier uses Mom's voice to boost preemie brain development

NCT ID NCT06063122

Summary

This study is testing a new medical device designed to help preterm infants in the hospital develop better speech sound processing. The device is a special pacifier that plays recordings of the baby's mother's voice when the baby sucks on it. Researchers will measure brain activity to see if this interactive, on-demand voice exposure helps the infants' brains differentiate speech sounds better than just passively listening to the same recordings.
