New contact lens could reduce need for reading glasses in presbyopia

NCT ID NCT06698731

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a new contact lens designed to help people with presbyopia (age-related blurry near vision) see clearly at both far and close distances, potentially reducing the need for bifocals or reading glasses. 78 adults aged 45 to 70 who already wear soft contact lenses took part. Each person tried both the new lens and a standard distance-only lens during two office visits, and their vision was measured using standard eye charts.
