Skin specialist visits may shorten hospital stays for common infection
NCT ID NCT01706913
Summary
This study tested whether having a skin doctor (dermatologist) see patients hospitalized for cellulitis within 24 hours could improve their care. Researchers compared 246 patients who received standard care alone to those who also got a dermatology consultation. They measured if the specialist visit helped patients leave the hospital sooner, reduced antibiotic use, and lowered the chance of being readmitted.
