Brain scan study tests if drug can quiet the 'broken record' thoughts of depression
NCT ID NCT06937476
Summary
This study is testing if adding a low dose of aripiprazole to a common antidepressant helps people with depression who get stuck in loops of negative, repetitive thinking. 108 adults with depression will take either the antidepressant alone or the antidepressant plus aripiprazole for 8 weeks. Researchers will use brain scans to see if changes in a brain chemical called dopamine are linked to improvements in these intrusive thoughts.
