New dental membrane tested to fight implant infections

NCT ID NCT06153212

Summary

This study compares two different surgical membranes used during dental surgery to treat peri-implantitis, which is gum disease that develops around dental implants. Researchers will test a new reinforced PTFE mesh against a traditional collagen membrane to see which helps bone and gum tissue heal better. The study involves 32 adults with peri-implantitis who will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two membranes during their surgical treatment.
