New film treatment tested to calm dementia agitation episodes
NCT ID NCT05271552
Summary
This study tested whether a dissolving film medication called BXCL501 can safely reduce agitation episodes in people with dementia. About 150 participants aged 65+ living in care facilities received either a low dose, high dose, or placebo film when agitation occurred over 12 weeks. Researchers measured changes in agitation symptoms like tension, hostility, and poor impulse control to see if the treatment helped calm these distressing episodes.
