ICU mystery: can taking patients off ventilators trigger confusion?
NCT ID NCT07196813
Summary
This study aimed to understand if and when delirium (sudden, severe confusion) happens to patients while they are being taken off a breathing machine (ventilator). Researchers observed 38 adult patients in the intensive care unit, checking for signs of confusion right before the breathing tube was removed and for two days afterward. The goal was to identify what might trigger this confusion to help doctors prevent or treat it earlier.
