Simple blood test may predict Post-Surgery confusion in frail elderly

NCT ID NCT07322744

Summary

This study looked at whether a simple ratio from a routine blood test (lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio) could help predict which older patients become confused after surgery. Researchers followed 6,475 patients aged 65 and older who had elective surgery. They specifically wanted to see if this blood marker was a stronger predictor for patients who were already frail before their operation.
