Can learning to wait as a child predict success later?

NCT ID NCT06605001

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at how young children's experiences with waiting—like for a treat or a gift—relate to their behavior and life outcomes later on. About 200 typically developing children will complete tasks that measure self-control, flexibility, and academic readiness, and return after one year for follow-up. The goal is to understand the links between early delaying habits and future skills, not to test a treatment.
