First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to treat chronic pain that doesn't respond to medication. It involved implanting electrodes in two brain areas: one that processes the emotional side of pain and one that handles the physical sensation. The goal was to see if this combined approach was safe and possible in 8 adults with severe, long-term pain.
