New therapy combo targets deep brain responses in dissociative disorders
NCT ID NCT07677046
First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study explores whether combining a trauma-focused therapy called Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) with a supportive group program is feasible and helpful for adults with complex dissociative disorders like Dissociative Identity Disorder. Ten participants will receive weekly individual DBR sessions plus two online group sessions per week for 16 weeks. Researchers will measure recruitment, retention, and symptom changes to see if this integrated approach warrants larger studies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) therapy
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could point toward a new, tolerable treatment approach for complex dissociative disorders that combines individual therapy with group support.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study with only 10 participants and no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly and the therapy may not prove effective in larger trials.
