Heart MRI model could predict deadly risks in DCM patients

NCT ID NCT07527715

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study aims to create a tool that helps doctors predict which patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (a condition where the heart becomes enlarged and weak) are at highest risk for serious problems like heart failure, dangerous heart rhythms, or sudden cardiac death. Researchers will use a special heart MRI scan, done under mild stress, along with basic patient information like age and blood pressure, to build a risk score. The goal is to help doctors focus care on those who need it most and avoid unnecessary treatment for lower-risk patients.
