First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study looked at 228 women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) who needed a mastectomy. The goal was to see if doing a sentinel lymph node biopsy before mastectomy could help some women avoid a more extensive lymph node removal later. The researchers measured how many women had negative sentinel nodes, meaning they could skip the extra surgery.
