Can Pre-Surgery radiation eliminate DCIS better than surgery alone?
NCT ID NCT03909282
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving radiation before surgery for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a very early breast cancer, can completely eliminate the cancer cells. About 50 women with small, non-palpable DCIS will be randomly assigned to either surgery alone or radiation followed by delayed surgery. The goal is to see if the pre-surgery radiation leads to a higher rate of complete cancer removal.
